Week 32

December 10, 2008
Weight: 174 pounds

I almost fainted today at work. I was teaching a math lesson and began to get really hot and shaky. I fanned myself with a paper and sent a couple of kids to get my water bottle and some crackers for me to eat. I ate a couple of crackers and told the kids I wasn't feel well. It all hit me very fast. I broke out in a cold sweat all over and felt very lightheaded and tingly. After about 1o minutes I was getting worse so I asked one of my students t go get Jennifer Sanders down the hall. By the time she got to my room, which was real fast, I began to cry a little becasue I was scared and feeling extremly weak. I could feel the baby moving so that gave me a little peace of mind. Jennifer got the nurse to come get me and take me to the clinic in the wheelchair. My poor students had to watch them take me away. I figured my sugar level was really low and I needed to eat. The nurse took my blood pressure and it was 98/60 - pretty low. It was almost my lunch time so they brught me my lunch and I ate it in the nurse's clinic and laid down awhile. After awhile I began feeling better. Four of my student's parents came to check on me because theywere in the building and lots of my coworkers came too. I was embarrassed but it was nice to know that so many people care.

I went to the doctor at 4:00 for my 32 week checkup. By the way it was snowing! I gained 1 pound the last 2 weeks and my blood pressure was 110/70. I told Dr Williams what happened before lunch today and he told me it was probably a combination of my blood pressure and blood sugar both dropping at the same time. He told me my iron leels and sugar levels were notmal when I took the glucose tolerance test. He also showed me all my blood pressure readings from my previous visits. THey are all in the normal-low range. He told me I need to vary how much I sit and stand and not do either for long periods of time. He also recommended me to eat snacks in between meals even if I'm not hungry. He said cheese sticks and peanut butter crackers would be good. He also said to drink lots of water. I feel like I do a good job of that already but I will try to drink more.

He measured my belly and said that the baby is right on target as far as growth goes. The baby kicked his hand when he touched me! Also when the nurse listened for the baby's heartbeat (138 bpm) it was hard to hear for a long time because the baby was hiccupping. I got to hear the hiccups - it was so cute!

32 Weeks 5 Days

Today I got faint feeling again at about 10:45 am. I ate a mid morning snack and lunch at 11:30ish and it didn't make me feel any better. I was dizzy and lightheaded and feeling hot flashes. After I dropped my kids at music I went to the school nurse to have my blood pressure checked and it was 110/50. I left a message with my doctor's office and took it pretty easy the rest of the afternoon. I did all my teaching sitting down. When school was out, I went home right away and called the doctor again on my way home. The nurse asked if I was eating snacks between meals and if I was taking iron supplements. I told her last Wednesday the doctor told me I didn't need any extra because my blood tests had all been normal. The last blood work I had done was at 24 weeks. The nurse said I may need to have some done again to check my iron level. She wants me to call back tomorrow if my blood pressure is still low. I would like to know why I'm feeling weird even if they said it is common in late pregnancy. It's a bit scary feeling so unsteady.

Week 31

This week has been pretty tiring. My back is hurting ALOT at the end of the day - especially in the evenings. I've moved to the recliner from my bed 3 different nights to sleep a few hours then I wake up again and crawl into the bed until my alarm goes off for work.

On Thursday evening, Hector and I went with his parents to go to his Aunt Diana's to pray the rosary for his grandmother. My back was already hurting and sitting in the car was pretty unbearable. It usually takes about 30 minutes to get to Diana's house but traffic was bad so it took an hour. When we got there, we ate pizza and wings and then prayed. On the way home traffic was still bad and it took forever to get home. I was in so much pain that I didn't say but 2 words the whole way home. Hector called my grumpy! This was by far the most pain I have ever been in and it was taking all my strength not to cry from the pain. I was exhausted and hurting so bad that I couldn't even talk. I decided tonight that I may need that epidural after all when my baby decides to come. I have always thought I had a high tolerance for pain but I was miserable and felt like dying! It was awful. It was so thankful to get home and be able to lie down.

This week I noticed that my legs are swelling above my sock line. It's like my socks are blocking circulation and there is a lot of puffiness above the socks on my legs. The skin stayed dimpled in also when I poke on it. I will ask Dr. Williams next week about it.

Week 30

November 26, 2008

Weight: 173 pounds

Hector and I went to the doctor this morning for my last ultrasound and 30 weeks checkup. It's hard to believe we only have 10 weeks left. When I laid down on the ultrasound table, Dr. Williams said "Wow Katie you have a good bump going there!" My belly seems to be growing bigger and bigger each day. Dr W says it looks right on target. Hector and I are very curious to know the gender of the baby but we agreed that we didn't want Dr W to point anything out to us. We told him that and he said we wouldn't look between the legs - he said we will just check everything else out. So we began the ultrasound and quickly found my baby's head right above my belly button. The baby's hand was right beside the face so we were not able to get any good pictures of the baby's face = ( We were able to see a chubby cheek though. Dr Williams took measurements of the head, brain, stomach and femur bone. We got to see all four chambers of the heart and see the heart beating. So amazing! The heart rate was 157 bpm. We also got to see the lungs and breathing. HE pointed out the baby's spine and the umbilical cord. The baby's legs were extended from the right side of my abdomen to the left with the little feet in my lower left side. It was neat to see the baby's position. It explained why I feel most of the kicks below my belly button, the hard round thing that pokes out of my right side sometimes is the baby's bottom and I have seen this big bulge come out above my belly button and below my boobs in the center when I sit on the couch has been the baby's head/ The doctor said the baby can still flip and turn pretty easily and should be head down in the last couple of weeks. All the measurements guesstimated the baby's weight at 3 pounds 11 ounces. Dr W says the baby will double in weight before delivery so we will have at least an 8 pound baby. Hec and I both weighed 8 lbs 6 oz so I was thinking our baby may be of similar size. He also said the computer predicted a January 30 due date from all the calculations but he was going to keep mine at February 4 because it could be a week before or after.

December 3, 2008

This week I have enjoyed watching my belly move like a water bed. When the baby is moving, sometimes its real jerky and jumpy and sometimes its very wavelike. It is a lot of fun to sit and stare at!

I have been a lot more tired this week also. The work days seem to be getting longer even thought they are the same. I turned in my last assignment for grad school this semester so I have a nice break for awhile.

My legs and ankles are achy at the end of the day and today my ankles were a little swollen. I'm starting to go to bed around 9 pm again because I am exhausted. The majority of my coworkers still think I am having a girl.

Week 29

This week the baby's movements seem to be very strong. They have changed from a quick kick feeling to a more fluid movement across the bottom of my stomach. There are still lots of kicks too though. On Sunday I had a sharp pain in my lower right side that would come and go. Every time I would be about to call the doctor the pain would go away. Then on Monday, I didn't feel the baby move until about 2:30 pm. That worried me but then the baby was very active the rest of the day and all day Tuesday. The pain came back some on Tuesday too. I decided to just ask the doctor about it and he said it was just ligament pain - nothing to worry about.

Hector's Grandma Sarah passed away last week and we had her wake and funeral this week. We will miss her very much and we wish she would have been able to meet our baby. At the services, Hec's whole extended family says it looks like I'm having a boy!

Week 28

November 12, 2008

Weight 170 pounds

I went to the doctor today. I'm officially in the 3rd trimester and I will now start seeing the doc every 2 weeks. Next appointment, we have our last ultrasound. My blood pressure was good today 108/82. I gained 7 pounds again this month - total is 19. The baby's heart rate is 149. The nurse said that was good. It took her a few tries to get the heartbeat because the baby was kicking at the same time. Dr. Williams measured me and poked around my stomach and said that the baby and me are growing at a good rate. I asked about my glucose tolerance test I took last month and he said I passed - score was a 92.

Last night my left sciatica nerve hurt so bad. It felt like a knife in my lower back/butt and shot sharp pains all the way to my toes. I slept in the recliner most of the night. I told Dr. Williams about this pain and my back pain and he told me I was officially pregnant. HA! He also said there wasn't much we could do about it. He said to try stretching. I wish there was something more to do but I have had a pretty easy pregnancy so far so I guess I will just deal with it. All the pain will be worth it in the end! = )

Week 27

Not much is different this week compared to last except that when I eat I feel really full. I'm not getting as hungry so I'm not snacking as much but when I eat a meal, I still eat a good amount. I may need to start eating smaller, more frequent meals so I don't feel as miserably stuffed after I eat.

I still have a cold and my throat gets sore at night. I haven't been sleeping very well but I'm not sure if its because my back hurts all the time or my congestion. Probably a combination of both.

I wasn't able to sleep in this weekend because my little pumpkin starts playing inside around 6 am. I have a very active baby - mostly during the day - I hope he/she is the same when it arrives and sleeps most of the night.

Week 26

Weight: 165 pounds

I am loving being pregnant more and more each day. The baby is so active now. I can feel him or her kicking and changing positions even when I am standing and moving now. It is the neatest thing to feel an arm or something brush the entire width f my stomach. The baby definitely get the hiccups at least once a day - usually in the evening. Sometimes he/she gets them twice in a day. I love feeling the baby move!

My left sciatica hurts pretty badly every day and my back is beginning to hurt more also.

I learned my lesson this week about why pregnant women are not supposed to lift anything heavy. I picked up our friend's crying one year old baby off the floor to comfort him and pulled the muscles in my stomach. It hurt for over 30 minutes. I didn't even think abut lifting a baby - I know I'm not supposed to lift heavy things but you would think a baby would be ok.

Allison found out she is having a girl today! I wonder what my sweet little one is = )

Week 25

My hips are hurting the week. The books say my ligaments and joints are starting to loosen. The baby is getting more and more active every day and I can feel it moving and kicking whenever I am still for awhile.

Everyone at work has commented about how big I look now. They are amazed with how a basketball shape has suddenly appeared. It's funny to hear every one's comments.

The past few weeks - maybe 2 months - I have been thinking I was getting the linea negra line on my stomach. It is definitely there now. It's a think line all the way down. Hector commented on it so I know it's visible now.

I am starting to get out of breath easily. Walking quickly from one place to another or simply talking too fast or too much makes it had to breathe.

Our baby bedding came in this week. My parents bought it for us. It is very cute! White with colorful polka dots. I love it!

Bianca treated to me and her mom to a massage on Saturday. It was wonderful!

October 27, 2008
25 weeks 5 days

Today I was sitting in a team meeting at work and I started to feel these tiny pokes in my lower stomach that kept on coming in a rhythmic pattern. It happened again at night while watching TV. I think baby had the hiccups twice today! They were not strong enough to feel from the outside though and they felt different than the kicks I feel all the time now. I can really tell that our baby is getting stronger everyday! = )

Week 24

October 15, 2008

Weight: 163 pounds

Baby Size: Papaya

I went to the doctor today. I gained 7 pounds this month! My appetite has definitely been strong lately and I have been eating well. I have gained 12 pounds total and my doc says that is good. I can't believe I am 6 months pregnant already. I did the glucose tolerance test this morning - the orange drink was hard to drink in just 5 minutes. I didn't like the taste at all - flat orange soda with too much sugar - no good! The last couple of weeks my favorite snack has been a cinnamon roll. That could have something to do with gaining 7 pounds!

All in all, Dr. Williams said my growth is right on track. The baby's heart rate was 146 this time. The nurse said the baby was probably inactive (sleeping) and not moving. I had to take the morning off from work because of the appointment. It was very nice to only teach half a day since my kiddos have been rowdy.

The baby woke me up twice this week kicking in the night. Also he/she has kicked my bladder and made me have to hurry to the restroom.

Every night Hector lays in bed with his hand on my belly to feel the baby move and kick = )

Week 23

The baby's kicks or punches are strong enough now where I can see my belly jump when it happens. Anytime I sit and rest, I get at least one thump from inside. If I lay down or sit on the couch with my feet up, the baby will kick and move for 10-15 minutes at a time. I sat on the couch alone the other night with the TV off and just talked to the baby. I really felt like we were bonding. I would place my hand on one section of my belly and I would feel a kick. If I moved my hand around, I would get a kick wherever I placed my hand. It was so cool!

My co-workers all have commented on how much my tummy has grown from last week to this week.

My back has not been hurting as bad this week - still hurts but not as bad. I can feel pressure on my tail bone and my sciatica is acting up a bit on the left side. My energy level is better this week too! = )
